About Us
Jared was born and raised in
Maharashtra, India of missionary parents. He attended Sunrise School in
Nashik along with his sister and brothers. It was in Nashik, the third holiest
place in the Hindu religion, swamped by ash-laden Sadhus along the
Godavri River, that Jared met the One that would change his life forever . . .
Jesus Christ.
Cindy was born in Illinois and raised
in Nigeria where her father was a missionary bush pilot. After Jared earned his
4-year Missions Diploma at Prairie Bible Institute in Canada, he went to
Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee where he met Cindy. Jared
graduated with a BA in Bible and Cindy with a BS. They were married in June
1980. Just over a year later they went to Suriname, South America with
Fellowship
International Mission to do missionary work among the Hindustanis (people
whose ancestors had come over some 100 years earlier from India to be indentured
servants).
Bethany (2nd from left) was born during the peak of
political chaos in December of 1982. The trip to the hospital will never be
forgotten as it was made in the middle of the night during curfew without
permission of the military that were then in charge.
J ustin
(2nd from right) came along in October of 1984
when the country was settled down a bit, but when there was nothing on the
shelves in the stores. He delighted everyone's heart by being the first grandson
on both sides.
Luke (3rd from left) delighted us all with his arrival
in July of 1988. He was to eventually take up the violin and would even one day
play for the President of Suriname at his palace (who is also a violinist).
Joel,
(4th from left) our "sports person"
topped off our quiver. He was the only one to not be born in Suriname...but
almost. At the last minute Cindy was evacuated to the States and he was born in
Ft. Payne, Alabama in May of 1990.
In 2002 we moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where Jared did Member Care at
D&D Missionary Homes for one year. During that time, Cindy fought breast
cancer and has since made a total recovery.
In 2003 we returned to
our first love, reaching the Hindu people with the Good News. Several
years ago in Suriname former Hindu Dr. Mahendra Singhal, gave a seminar of
"Winning Hindus to Christ". It helped me in the work tremendously.
Several months later, Dr. Singhal was diagnosed with cancer and was called home
to be with the Lord. His wife Neera turned over the ministry in January
2004. I am now giving seminars., speaking in churches, Sunday schools, and
to missionaries using much of his material, including my own experiences in
India and 21 years of evangelism and discipling Hindus in Suriname. If I
can help you, please contact me at: Jared@HinduMinistries.org.
